Acute myocardial infarction complicated by ventricular septal defect is a life-threatening disease. Without timely treatment, the mortality rate is over 90%. This article retrospectively analyzes a clinical case with ventricular septal defect induced by acute myocardial infarction. The patient's hemodynamic stability was maintained through pharmacological treatment and mechanical circulatory support. On the 25th day of hospitalization, the patient underwent percutaneous catheter occlusion, successfully sealing the ventricular septal defect. During six-month postoperative follow-up, the patient's vital signs and general condition were good, with no complications occurred. This article reviews relevant literature on similar cases at home and abroad, discussing the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of this case, in order to enhance clinicians' understanding of ventricular septal defect induced by acute myocardial infarction and provide reference for its clinical diagnosis and treatment.
