Study on the role of CTTM teaching model based on OBE concept in clinical teaching of emergency critical care medicine

Abstract

Objective  To explore the effectiveness of the case three-dimensional teaching method (CTTM) based on the concept of outcome-based education (OBE) in the clinical teaching of emergency critical care medicine.

Methods  Senior clinical medicine students in the Department of Emergency Critical Care Medicine in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University were selected and divided into experimental group and control group. The experimental group implemented the CTTM based on the OBE concept, and the control group adopted the traditional teaching method. At the end of the course, the theoretical knowledge and practical ability scores of the two groups were compared, and the teaching effectiveness of the two groups was evaluated.

Results  A total of 78 students were included in the study, 39 in the experimental group and 39 in the control group. Both theoretical knowledge (93.80±2.20 vs. 83.60±3.15, P<0.001) and practical ability (92.80±2.02 vs. 83.50±3.03, P<0.001) scores of the experimental group were significant higher than those of the control group. The teaching effect of experimental group was significantly better than that of control group (P<0.001).

Conclusion  The OBE-oriented CTTM teaching mode can significantly improve students' theoretical and practical ability, and the teaching effect is better, and most students are more acceptable to the CTTM teaching mode, but the results need further research and verification.
