Objective To construct and apply the virtual simulation training platform for clinical thinking decision in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and explore the impact of typical clinical case-based virtual simulation online training on students' clinical thinking ability of TCM, and provide a new approach for digital education in TCM.
Methods The self-constructed virtual simulation training platform for clinical thinking and decision-making of TCM was used to guide students to train independently and conduct process evaluations and summative evaluations.
Results Through different clinical cases and repeated effective simulation training, the students' consultation paths were standardized. The average practice score of students was (57.79±5.19) points and the average examination score was (69.70±7.40) points. Compared to usual practice scores, the examination scores for each module were significantly improved.
Conclusion The training based on the virtual simulation training platform for clinical thinking decision in TCM can significantly improve students' ability to distinguish common and frequently-occurring TCM syndromes, which helps to cultivate clinical decision-making ability in TCM and enhance their job competence.
