Bibliometric analysis of the research status, hotspots and trends in the field of prescription comment in China

Abstract

Objective  To explore the research status and trends in the field of prescription comment in China based on bibliometrics, and to reveal research hotspots in order to provide a reference for future studies.

Methods  Literature was collected from the CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP databases. Microsoft Office Excel 2021, CiteSpace 6.3.R2, and VOSviewer 1.6.20 softwares were used to conduct a visual analysis of publication volume, author and institution collaborations, highly cited literature, and keywords.

Results  A total of 2,343 articles were included. The research in prescription comment in China began in 2008, with academic achievements primarily published in pharmaceutical journals. A total of 549 authors from 386 institutions participated in the research, though collaborations were mostly confined within the same institution. High-impact literature mainly focused on the practical application of prescription comment in medical institutions. Keywords co-occurrence analysis indicated that the implementation objects mainly included antibacterial drugs, outpatient prescriptions, pediatric clinics, traditional Chinese patent medicines and simple preparations, irrational prescriptions, irrational drug use, and Chinese herbal pieces. Cluster analysis obtained 10 meaningful categories. Keywords emergence analysis showed that the clinical intervention effect of prescription comment has become a research hotspot in recent years.

Conclusion  Currently, rich research results have been achieved in the field of prescription comment in China, but the academic attention has decreased in recent years. In the future, collaborations between different institutions should be strengthened, and the implementation of real-time prescription comment should be explored. Meanwhile, future research should focus on the medication for special populations and specific diseases to promote the high-quality development of research on this field.
