Objective To study the effect of traditional Chinese medicine application combined with auricular point application on the negative mood and sleep quality of patients with hor-mone-related insomnia in blood diseases with deficiency of heart and spleen.

Method  A total of 110 blood disease patients with insomnia after hormone therapy in Henan Province Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (the Second Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Chinese Medicine) from Febru-ary 2020 to June 2022 were selected as the research objects, and were divided by random number table method. 55 patients in the control group were given routine bedtime nursing and western medicine treatment, and 55 patients in the observation group were given traditional Chinese medicine applica-tion combined with auricular acupoint sticking treatment. Clinical efficacy, TCM symptom score, nega-tive emotion, sleep quality and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.

Results  The total effective rate of observation group was higher than that of control group (P=0.026). The dif-ferences of Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) scores, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores and TCM syndrome scores before and after treatment in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.001). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions such as lethargy, loss of appetite and fatigue after awakening between two groups within 4 weeks of treatment (P>0.05).

Conclusion  Traditional Chinese medicine applica-tion combined with auricular acupoint pressure can alleviate the negative mood of patients with hor-mone-related insomnia in blood diseases with deficiency of heart and spleen, improve sleep quality and has high safety.
