Objective  To analyze the effect of evidence-based nursing on the mental state and compliance of elderly patients with unexplained fever.

Methods  A total of 100 elderly patients with unexplained fever admitted to Nanyang Central Hospital from May 2021 to June 2022 were selected as research subjects, and divided into control group and observation group, with 50 cases in each group. The control group received routine nursing, and the observation group received evidence-based nursing. After 1 month, the psychological state, disease uncertainty and compliance of the two groups were compared.

Results  After nursing, the score of self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (43.69±3.44 vs. 54.14±3.58, P<0.001), the score of self-rating depression scale (SDS) was significantly lower than that of control group (42.07±3.41 vs. 48.56±3.59, P<0.001). In the observation group, the scores of uncertainty, inconsistency, complexity and unpredictability were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The total compliance rate of the observation group was higher than that of control group (94.00% vs. 80.00%, P<0.05).

Conclusion  Compared with conventional nursing, evidence-based nursing can reduce the negative emotions of elderly patients with unexplained fever, reduce their disease uncertainty, improve patients’ compliance.
